SO:Communications is a freelance consultancy providing strategic communications support to organisations in the public, third and private sector.

I help you develop a strategy, get your message and tone right, and build the relationships needed to achieve what you set out to do - whether that is to spread the word about a new initiative or service, engage key stakeholders, gain new supporters, clients and partners, or to make sure your employees buy into the changes you are proposing.

Communications is about connecting and building lasting relationships with your target audience - with your customers, followers, partners, employees.

Different audiences require a different approach in tone, style, and channel, all depending on the outcome you are looking to achieve. Too much to think about? I am experienced in writing for different purposes, audiences and channels and will be able to support you for one-off projects or long-term campaigns and initiatives and provide guidance on utilising content multiple times in multiple ways.

To get to where you want to be, you need a road map.

Together we look at where you are now, where you want to be, and the resources you have available - and then decide which method, messages and channels might yield the best results for you. In all of this, I advocate agile communications whenever possible: to remain open and flexible to changes and adjust plans along the way based on feedback.

Sometimes all you need is a sounding board, an outside view and new input rather than employing someone to deliver the whole package.

If that's the case, I provide coaching and mentoring to individuals or smaller organisations to help you get set up in the right way or enable you to move forward with all the good comms work you are already doing.

Together we identify blockages and ways to overcome them, set realistic goals, and break them down into small achievable steps. I will be able to point you towards useful resources and be there as an accountability partner if you wish.

Me about myself

SO:Communications was founded by me, Kerstin Mordant. I am a trained journalist and CIPR qualified communications professional with more than 20 years' experience working in comms, mainly in the public and third sector, in particular in the criminal justice field and health. Over the years I have built a strong network of colleagues with different specialisms and expertise whose support I will draw on if required.

I have set up SO:Communications to be able to work with a range of clients and projects beyond the boundaries of a job description. I am curious about your space and purpose, and if we get to work together, you will have my full commitment.

I strongly believe in sustainable communications that will stand the test of time, and I am also an advocate of agile and open communications: talking about your story as it unfolds, engaging with your audience in two-way conversation, and remaining flexible about how you communicate along the way.
